Head of Accessibility 03/2020 - Present


Launching products at scale: Developed Atlassian's first enterprise accessibility strategy based on the voice of our external partners.

Resolving tech debt: Established a new workflow that remediated 80% of our Cloud Product bugs in under a year.

Advocating for the consumer: Built relationships with our external partners across the accessibility space and formalized our new company wide commitment to accessibility with the legal department.

Strategic planning: Created a roadmap and plan to measurably improve our Mobile and Cloud product accessibility while working directly with leaders in Engineering, Product, Design, and Research on complex initiatives to define and execute an accessible "definition of done" and establish our new validation processes.

Educating: Training our staff with accessibility Software Engineering best practices to ensure our products are built to be both accessible and functional for broad audiences with different needs.

Influencer: Successfully working with leadership, external organizations, customers, and third-party developers to ensure accessibility is treated as an equal top priority across our business by drafting a business case based on customer metrics. Ultimately achieved executive sign-off to launch our accessibility program, which rose to number six-ranked business priority (out of fifty-two total programs).

Collaborator and Connector: Established Pearson's first Executive Accessibility Steering Committee composed of SVP and VP leaders from across the organization to share progress, set priority and build consensus.This collaborative governance has enabled born accessible production by implementing checks and balances, including an official internal accessibility policy, content release criteria, and updated definition of done for product releases.

Problem Solver: Leveraging internal empathy into action by successfully stewarding accessibility out of a three-year program to our current business usual stance. Progress includes consolidating five sets of requirements into one "source of truth", establishing expectations with vendor partners, and updating all third-party agreements to reflect our mutual commitment to accessibility. This was achieved through the establishment of a new accessibility governance structure.

Recruiter & Accessibility Advocate: Leading the growth of internal and external messaging campaigns as verified by a 600% increase in outreach activities over the last year due to solid internal collaboration with our North American marketing and sales teams.

Cross-Functional Leader: Growing the core accessibility team from one member to five, recruiting a dedicated Program manager, and establishing two new eight-member platform quality teams by advocating and securing support from leadership for a business case based on customer metrics.
